Kitchener-area MPP wants to know who owns snowplows Ontario taxpayers purchased

TORONTO — Kitchener-Conestoga MPP Michael Harris is demanding to know if snow plowing equipment purchased by the Ontario government for winter road maintenance contractors is owned by the province or by the private companies.

Harris, the Progressive Conservative transportation critic, says the Liberal government had to spend millions of dollars to buy plows and spreaders for companies it contracted to clear Ontario roads and highways of snow.

And Harris complains the government is unable to say if it owns the approximately 100 pieces of snow clearing equipment it bought at about $130,000 each, or if the plows and spreaders belong to the contractors it hired. Read More
