Harris drives forward as PC Transportation Critic …and takes the wheel as Research and Innovation Critic

September 10, 2015

Kitchener – “It is with great honour that I report Ontario PC Leader Patrick Brown’s recent Opposition Critic portfolio announcement confirming my ongoing position as Transportation Critic for the Official Opposition, and announcing my new responsibilities as Research and Innovation Critic.”

That from MPP Michael Harris in response to the establishment of Critic portfolios for the Official Opposition that will see the Kitchener-Conestoga representative continue holding government to account on provincial transportation matters, while taking on his new role in the PC shadow cabinet addressing Research and Innovation.

“I’m looking forward to picking up on the effective work of former Research and Innovation Critics Randy Hillier and Ted Arnott, while continuing to concentrate my efforts on improving transit and transportation across Ontario,” said Harris. “Our Leader Patrick Brown has done his due diligence in putting together a hard-working, strong and effective team to hold the Wynne Government to account and help build a better Ontario for today’s and future generations.”

Harris was first named to the Transportation role in July 2014, and has since worked effectively on a wide range of issues including Distracted Driving, GO transit, LRT’s, Roundabouts, Winter Road Maintenance, Truck Testing, HOT lanes and more.

“As Research and Innovation Critic I will be digging further into the $400 million-plus being funneled into the white elephant known as MaRS 2 building in Toronto while I continue to hold the Transportation Minister to account for continued missteps impacting motorists, cyclists and transit users throughout this province,” Harris asserted.
