BRANTFORD EXPOSITOR – Kitchener MPP says the province needs to find a better way of helping those seeking treatment for rare diseases

Kitchener MPP Michael Harris is taking up the cause of local families affected by Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome.
Harris, a Progressive Conservative, has written to the Ministry of Health on behalf of the families – in particular Erika Crawford of St. George – and is calling on the government to study how some of those with rare diseases are slipping through the cracks of the health-care system.

“I’ve not been touched by this in my family but I see people coming through the doors at Queen’s Park to beg for the lives of their loved ones. That shouldn’t be happening in Ontario,” said Harris, who is calling on the province to strike a select committee to look at the problem. Read More
