McGuinty aide faces breach of trust allegations over gas-plant scandal

QUEEN’S PARK – Today, the Ontario Provincial Police alleged that Dalton McGuinty’s former chief of staff committed breach of trust for his role in the Liberal government’s gas-plant scandal, according to media reports.

“The allegations made by the Ontario Provincial Police against a former senior staff member of the Liberal ‎government are very serious,” Harris said. ‎”Today’s news raises several questions about the possible destruction of evidence detailing the specifics of the $1.1 billion gas-plant scandal.”

According to media reports from earlier today, David Livingston, former chief of staff under Dalton McGuinty, is now facing criminal allegations after the Ontario Provincial Police said they believe he gave an outside tech expert access to 24 government computers, which, it is suspected, were wiped of information related to the gas-plant cancellations.

“It is time for the Liberal government to come clean,” Harris said. “It should not take a full-scale OPP investigation to get the truth. We clearly need a judicial inquiry now more than ever.”
