Public Hearings on Aggregate Resources Act Coming to Kitchener-WaterlooJune 14, 2012
KITCHENER — Today, Michael Harris, MPP for Kitchener-Conestoga confirmed that the Aggregate Resources Act (ARA) review will be holding public hearings in Kitchener-Waterloo.
“Since the review was first announced, I have been working to ensure local municipalities, residents and industry representatives have the opportunity to provide feedback,” said Harris. “I appreciate the Committee’s support for including Kitchener-Waterloo on the list of locations for public hearings moving forward.”
Earlier this afternoon, the Standing Committee on General Government passed a motion approving the Committee’s travel schedule. Once hearing rooms have been secured, specific dates and locations will be posted for hearings in Kitchener-Waterloo, Dufferin-Caledon, Manitoulin Island and Ottawa.
“This is a very positive step to ensuring a meaningful review of the Aggregate Resources Act,” said Harris. “Based on the number of current and future aggregate applications in our community, it makes sense for the Committee to visit Waterloo Region.”
Requests to appear before the Standing Committee conducting the ARA review, should be submitted to the Clerk of the Committee, Tamara Pomanski email@example.com.
